The Public Health Department today reports that there continues to be no evidence of a hepatitis A outbreak in Santa Clara County. There have been no reports of additional hepatitis A cases associated with County of Santa Clara correctional facilities.

The two cases of hepatitis A associated with County of Santa Clara correctional facilities announced in September have been connected by genetic testing to the outbreak of hepatitis A happening in other parts of California. The genotyping was performed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.   In September, the County of Santa Clara completed rapid-response mass vaccination in County correctional facilities to prevent additional cases and continues working with government and community partners to address needs and protect other groups who may be at risk for hepatitis A exposure.
