​Your risk of getting HIV from sex can be even lower if you combine PrEP with condoms and other prevention methods. 

What is PrEP? 

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis or "PrEP" is an HIV prevention option for people who do not have HIV but are at high risk of getting it. PrEP is highly effective for preventing HIV if used as prescribed. Your risk of getting HIV from sex can be even lower if you combine PrEP with condoms and other prevention methods. ​

How can I get PrEP?  

  • If you have health insurance and have a healthcare provider, talk to your doctor to find out if PrEP is for you.
  • If you have health insurance and need to find a PrEP provider, visit PleasePrEPme.org​ to find a provider near you.

  • PrEP/PEP counseling and navigation services 
  • Support to start PrEP 
  • Linkage to a primary care provider if needed 
  • Assistance in accessing programs that help cover the cost of medication partially or in full 
  • Referrals

What is PEP?

Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) is an HIV prevention option that should be used only in emergency situations. PEP must be started within 72 hours after a recent possible exposure to HIV.  If you think you have been exposed to HIV in the last 72 hours, go to the nearest Urgent Care facility or Emergency Room for assistance.
