County of Santa Clara Providing Guidance to Long-Term Care Facilities To Reduce the Spread of COVID-19

Approach Includes Close Monitoring of Facilities with Known or Suspected Cases of COVID-19

Santa Clara County, CA – The County of Santa Clara continues to work closely with long-term care facilities to mitigate the potential impact of COVID-19, including providing support to Canyon Springs Post-Acute Care. Confirmed positive cases associated with this facility have been reported to the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department. At the request of Canyon Springs, the County of Santa Clara has also supplied personal protective equipment.

The County Public Health Department provides COVID-19-related support to all nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, and assisted living facilities, including:

  • Assessments of infectionprevention and infection control preparedness.
  • Regularly updatedguidance about new requirements and resources.
  • Technical assistance forinfection control—including daily monitoring of any facility where thereare suspected or confirmed cases and technical advice on isolatingcases—as well as monitoring any new suspected cases, and facilitatingtesting.
