WHAT: Film Screening and Community Discussion
Resilience: The Biology of Stress & The Science of Hope

The County of Santa Clara Public Health Department, FIRST 5 Santa Clara County, and partners host a movie screening, community meeting, and discussion of adverse childhood experiences and using cutting-edge brain science to stop cycles of violence, addiction, and disease. People with unsafe or tumultuous childhoods are more likely to suffer mental health issues, heart disease, incarceration, and many other health problems later in their lives.

More than 100 nonprofit leaders, counselors, judicial system staff, promotores, health care professionals, educators, and faith leaders are expected to attend.

The Adverse Childhood Experiences Network of Santa Clara County, or ACEs Network, focuses on growing resiliency and coordinating the community to interrupt cycles of addiction, violence, and disease.
