Public Health Department Offers Media Availability at World AIDS Day Event Friday Evening

WHAT:

As part of a week of red ribbon events promoting AIDS awareness, the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department’s leading expert on sexually transmitted disease and HIV, Dr. Sarah Lewis, will be available for interviews before speaking at the World AIDS Day candlelight vigil and AIDS Quilt viewing at San Jose City Hall on Friday evening. Other confirmed speakers include County Supervisor Ken Yeager, Candelario Franco of The Health Trust, and Bob Reed of the Santa Clara County HIV Commission. Honored each December 1st since 1988, World AIDS Day unites people worldwide in the fight against HIV and commemorates those who have died from AIDS-related illness. An estimated 320 people living with HIV in the County are unaware of their infection.
