Role of Men (ROM)
ROM are classes for fathers, 5-week workshops offered cyclically, on "A Father’s Role in Parenting".
These workshops provide African-American men with resources and encourage increased participation during pregnancy and post-birth.
The class curriculum was developed by Dr. Michael E. Connors with a focus on being positive role models.
Childcare is provided. Transportation is available to participants who qualify and do not have an operative vehicle.
Topics include:
- Character of a man
- Improving communication
- Dealing with guilt and shame
- Healthy relationships
- Fatherhood self-assessment
- Legal Issues
- Developing a support system
- Other important topics regarding fatherhood as an African-American
ROM is open to men of all races who are fathers, expectant fathers, or men contemplating fatherhood.
